HootSuite, which is behind the popular Twitter client, has raised $1.9 million in funding, according to an SEC filing. The company’s dashboard lets multiple people manage a single (or multiple) Twitter accounts and drives about 3.9 percent of all Tweets, according to Twitstat. That makes it the fifth most popular Twitter client after the Twitter website, Tweetdeck, Tweetie and Twitterfeed. The HootSuite service is free, although the startup says it is “investigating pricing plans and exciting new features for paid accounts.”

No confirmation on who the investors are, although the filing lists Blumberg Capital managing partner David Blumberg as well as Hearst Interactive Media director of strategic investments Scott Wolfgang as directors. There’s been lots of interest among venture investors in Twitter clients; both Twitterfeed and Tweetdeck have received outside funding in recent months. We’ve reached out to the company for details and will update when we hear back.

  • I’ve always been a big fan of TweetDeck, however HootSuite is certainly beginning to make an impact on me. Congrats on the funding!
