Michael Hirshland is a general partner in Polaris’ Boston office, having joined the company in May 1999. He represents Polaris as a director on the boards of Automattic, BlackArrow, Hangout Industries, Heavy.com, Q1Labs, Turbine Entertainment and Quantcast. He formerly served as chairman of Ucentric Systems, which was acquired by Motorola.
Before becoming a technology investor, Mike served as counsel to the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee, where, among other things, he led the Senate’s Microsoft hearings and supervised the Senate’s hearings on competition in the digital age. Previously, Mike practiced with the law firm Williams & Connolly. Prior to his legal career, Mike was a strategy consultant with Bain & Company.
Mike received his JD from the University of Virginia School of Law and currently keeps a blog on digital media and technology.
